I’m working on a few projects at the moment outside of client work. It’s not uncommon for me to have a few irons in the fire at any given time, though I see working on animated projects more in line with oil painting than anything else. When one canvas is loaded up with paint, you have to let it settle for a bit in order for the oils to grab hold of the canvas texture. So while one canvas is settling, you go on to another one. And another one. Always on the move as my mentor Jim Hoston would say.
We got in early to do some scratch audio on one of our projects. It’s been in the works for about 5 to 6 years now. It started off as a short film, and over the years and a lot of discussion about the topic and ideas at hand, it continued to grow. And now it’s at a point we’re really happy with. “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
I suppose in this case, “When the artist is ready, the canvas appears.”
